Discover how jazz in Birmingham helped create some of the nation’s most swinging and celestial sounds. Alabama jazz and soul has a rich history anchored in greater Birmingham and Montgomery. Nat King Cole, Lionel Hampton, Erskine Hawkins and others dotted the musical landscape as artists performed here. The clubs on Fourth Avenue and Tuxedo Junction made Birmingham an essential stop on the circuit. Can you hear those silky voices and soulful horns?

We are going to learn how to make beautiful hats. Maybe you want a party hat, a Sunday hat, a holiday hat or whatever you please. Cathy’s hats are showpieces. She will demonstrate how you can create your own unique hat. Join us for the fun!

Dr. Kenneth Snell (via Zoom from S. Dakota)

The cause-of-death statement tells a story about how someone died and compares the death to how someone else died. Dr. Snell, a forensic pathologist, will explain how facts concerning what led to the death and its circumstances contribute to this statement. We will learn how, in an autopsy, the body tells a tale. Time of death, body temperature, rigor mortis and decomposition are all factors in the science of pathology. Join us as we learn more about this fascinating area of medicine.

Poetry has a long and varied history dating back to prehistoric times. It’s a form of literature that Complimentary Bonus Programs uses aesthetic and often rhythmic language to evoke meanings. Stan will bring us exciting facts about well-known, and perhaps not-so-well-known, poets, their poems and how the mechanics of poetry work.

"A Walk Through Time" is held in October each year at Forrest Cemetery. The walk features volunteers dressed in period clothing to portray some of Gadsden’s most interesting citizens from long ago. During this presentation learn of the notable figures and their stories.

It’s a continent that offers experiences you will never forget and memories of a lifetime. Join us as we explore one of the oldest and largest deserts, trek into the forest to meet the animals, and marvel at Victoria Falls. There is no need to pack. Just sit back and enjoy the trip!

We all get those phone calls asking for money to bail someone out of jail, or we have won a new car, pay X amount for the delivery, and so many other scams perpetrated on us daily. Destiny will discuss these scams and frauds to help keep us from being victims. The discussion will include how to prevent identity theft and the prevention of potential financial loss.

We’ll enjoy some of the "best of" and laugh at the crack-ups, movie parodies and all the unforgettable characters this show brought us. It’s Halloween, so there may be treats to go along with these comedy tricks!
